Vocational Services
Our Vocational Services Programs are designed tomeet the needs of each
person servedandoffer apath to independence.Weoffer awide varietyof
opportunities through theseprograms. Therearenearly20employerswho
have given career opportunties to thosewe servewho are supportedwith
a JobCoach. Aseachpersonprogressesalong theEmployment Continuum
path, they become less reilant on high-cost, governmental funding which
decreases their need for services.
Pre-Vocational Program
Our Pre-Vocational Program offers several activities to teach skills to the
people we serve and prepare them for the variety of opportunities that
may be available to them. These activities also give people the chance to
volunteer and give back to their community.
People involved in the Pre-Vocational Program volunteer in mulitple
locations throughout Western New York on a daily basis. Some of the
engaging activities included participating in the assembly line cooking
processatMealsonWheels, taking part inactivities for seniorsatOakwood
Assisted Living, volunteeringat Catalyst Fitness and theSPCA, takinga tour
of Tony Pepperoni, visiting City Hall and meeting Mayor Byron Brown,
whichwas featured in a segment onChannel 7WKBWNews.
OurPROMISEservices (Promoting theReadinessofMinors inSupplemental
Security Income) expanded in 2015. We began providing youth transition
services to students, ages 14 to 16 years old. This programwas created to
help them learn job skills out in the community. PROMISE serves students
within theBuffalo andNiagara Falls school districts. The students invovled
in the programwill be evaluated at the end of a three year term to assist
them findingj career placement.
